APOD: Shuttle magic
In keeping with this week’s Launchtastic theme, today’s APOD is a beatiful picture of Space Shuttle Atlantis on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. Atlantis is currently under way to rendez-vous with the Hubble Space Telescope to carry out essential repairs to ready the telescope for 5 more years of science operation.

How the Columbia crew's lives were lost
A new report from NASA has chronicled in great detail the final moments in the lives of the crew on board space shuttle Columbia, which was lost on re-entry, in February 2003. The plain conclusion of the Columbia Crew Survival Investigation Report is that the accident could not have been survived by the crew, who did everything they were trained to do to avoid disaster.
