Robot Ping-Pong

I came across this amazing YouTube video of robots playing ping-pong on Dr Stu’s Blog, in an interesting post on developments in robot technology. Cool or what?! The robots were built at ETH Zurich, in its Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control.

Top 5 Awesome Things About the Webb Telescope

This video about JWST is excellent! At a recent MIRI meeting I was asked to convey my excitement about JWST for a video by Space telescope Science Institute – sadly my nerd cool proficiency level is some orders of magnitude below that of Vlogbrothers. I sure wish we could get them to .Astronomy in April :-)

I’ve posted quite a bit about JWST now – see everything here.

To mark Valentine’s Day, Periodic Videos have released this cool video on forces of attraction in nature. You can watch extra footage here.

“We’re searching for ET…

… but it’s really hard to see” – that’s what sums up the field of astrobiology according to this astro spoof Ke$ha music video. I’m not sure what adjectives to use to describe it. Certainly one of the more unexpected links I’ve received from the JWST public affairs office. It was produced by someone or an outift called Jank (YouTube, website) – anyone know who’s behind it, or recognise the girl? She looks like she’s having a great time.

VLT timelapse

Check out this amazing timelapse of the 4 VLT unit telescopes at Paranal in Chile. The video was made by Stephane Guisard, who is an optics engineer at the observatory. His YouTube channel has several more excellent astro-themed videos. Make sure you turn them up the highest resolution your screen can handle for the full effect!
